EMDR

What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from symptoms and emotional distress that are the results of disturbing life experiences. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma by allowing a person to process traumatic and distressing memories so that they no longer cause discomfort. Through the process of EMDR, a client doesn’t not simply forget that the trauma occurred, but are able to dissolve the negative and intense emotions and thoughts associated with the memory and heal in a more productive and healthy manner.

Who would benefit from EMDR?

Grief
Disturbing Memories (i.e., loss, accidents, violence)
